Thai military seizes power in coup d'etat

Recommended Posts

it will probably be bloodless like the last one.

it will be the first coup d'etat in Thailand, for 7.5 years.

which means that they were overdue a coup as on average in Thailand, there has been a coup, or attempted coup, on average every 4.1 years since 1932.

the timing could well be related to the very poor state of health, of the king.

they always happen at the same time of day. About 2 hours, before it gets dark. So people are able to see all the tanks and military prescence to realise that it has happened again. And to give the army time to tell everybody to go home, and stay home because there is a curfew. Last time, on September 19, 2006 the weather did the generals a favour. It rained heavily in the evening in Bangkok and everyone would have been inside anyway.
