Brilliant 'learn to dance' offer

Blitz Modern Jive has two evenings of dance every week at Crookes Social Club. Trouble is, at the moment Wednesday is packed and Thursday, for no apparent reason, is quiet. In order to encourage people to switch and even things up, every Thursday in June admission is £5 rather than the normal £7.

The good news is that the existing offer for beginners is still available: pay for your first night, get a voucher for the next four free. That means you can combine them and have your first five Thursday nights' dancing (including lessons) for £5!

Beginners' lessons are at about 7.40, intermediate lesson about 8.55 (the beginners' lesson is repeated in the bar if you're not ready for the intermediates yet), freestyle dancing in between the lessons and afterwards till 10.30pm. And modern jive is the easiest form of dance to learn as it isn't focused on getting the footwork exactly right.

Modern Jive is a partner dance, but you don't need to bring a partner - everyone moves around in both the lessons and freestyle time. It can be danced to pretty much any speed of music - Blitz's music is a wide variety from popular new hits back to classics of the 70s. That makes it particularly good as you will be able to dance whenever you go to parties, weddings, etc. (unlike Salsa, Tango, etc. which need a particular rythmn).

Search for it on YouTube to see the wide variety of styles and moves you'll learn.
