Would you pay to park at your local pub?

Recommended Posts

What if your supermarket charged you to park when you went shopping?

Lots of them do. Particuarly ones attached to shopping centres or very close to major city centres. They will have a charge and offer refund or reinbursement to those purchasing in store.

When will people start to realise that free plentiful car parking everywhere and anywhere is not some human right. IF a company has space for car parking they MAY offer it to their customers. That car parking MAY be offered for free however, they dont have to, particuarly if they happen to be located next to a major urban centre or transport hub/rail station, or sporting/leisure venue etc where it is very likely to be used by non customers.

Customers travelling to a place CHOOSE to use thier car. Businesses that encourage car use due to their product/service/style or those leaving little other option due to their location are wise to offer free parking obviously. BUT, if they do not have any need to offer free parking or wish to discourage non customer parking for the reasons above - why should they give it away?

Land is not free. Space is not infinite. Car parking no matter how small has to be maintained and that costs money. There is no enforcement for it to be free at all.

irrespective of whether you have to pay or not, if you build a shop or any other business, you have to allow space for car parking proportionate to the amount of costumers you could expect, you will not get planning permission if you dont.
