CAIMH MCDONNELL

“SOUTHBOUND AND DOWN.” EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2014

Top-notch stand-up from Irish comedian and Bafta nominee Caimh McDonnell. He moved to London, it went badly - which is lucky because happiness isn't funny! 'Outstanding' (Telegraph). 'A masterclass' (Chortle.co.uk).

In his decade on the British stand-up circuit, Caimh McDonnell has firmly established himself as the white-haired Irishman whose name nobody can pronounce. He performs regularly at all the major clubs (Last Laugh Comedy Clubs, Comedy Store, Highlight, The Glees, Jongleurs) and is equally at home doing a set or acting as MC. He has also performed internationally, doing stand-up tours of the Far East, the Middle East and once, the near east (Norwich). Caimh returned to the Edinburgh Festival in 2012 with his hour long stand-up show, ‘The Art of Conversation’.

When not performing stand-up, Caimh is in great demand as a writer for TV. He has recently worked on the hit BBC2 show ‘The Sarah Millican Television Programme’ and the SKY sports/comedy panel show ‘A League of Their Own’. He also works as a children’s TV writer and was BAFTA nominated for the CBBC animated series ‘Pet Squad’ which he created. He was a winner in the BBC’s Northern Laffs sitcom writing competition, where he was lucky enough to be mentored by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey of ‘Royle Family’ fame.

When not doing all of the above, Caimh is proud to be ‘The Voice of London Irish’. Currently in his ninth season as a key part of the London Irish rugby club match day experience, he acts as the announcer in the Madjeski stadium in Reading, as well as conducting player interviews and writing for the programme. He was recently delighted to referred to as ‘Appallingly Partisan’ by the Rugby Paper, who seemed to be under the mistaken impression that he is sent in by the UN to seek a peaceful resolution to the match.

DAN NIGHTINGALE

“IS TRYING HIS BEST NOT TO BE A DICK.” EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2014

International festival comedian, circuit legend and Lancastrian socialite, Dan Nightingale returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with a brand new hour of stand up.

In his new show, Dan charts his past year in love and life and his family’s ups and downs through illness and old age. He questions his own atheism, discusses accidental racism and has an incident with an overweight squirrel in Chelsea. There’s a definite possibility that he’s a bit of a dick, but who cares when he’s this funny with it?

Fresh from a critically acclaimed run of this show at the New Zealand Comedy Festival, a triumphant return to the Preston Playhouse for a ‘Hometown Hero’ one man show and an appearance on Sky 1’s John Bishop’s Only Joking, Dan Nightingale is back at the Fringe with his best show to date.

Dan is widely regarded as one of the best performers working on the comedy circuit today. Mixing fiendishly accurate observation with energetic characterisations and killer punch lines his comedy is original, playful, intelligent, poignant and exciting; sometimes ridiculous… but always hilarious.

Dan is a regular headliner at the Glees, the Stands and the Frog and Bucket in Manchester, as well as other leading clubs all over the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He has been performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on and off since 2004, gathering a plethora of 4 and 5 star reviews. As well as developing his reputation as a top-class circuit headliner and in-demand MC and host, he has also done regular TV warm up for the likes of Jonathan Ross, John Bishop and Celebrity Juice. His new comedy Podcast ‘Dan Nightingale’s In The House’ is available on iTunes.
