Obelix
Same thing, here's an example: The word the report used was 'destroy'. The free online dictionary states, destroy - destroy completely; damage irreparably; "You have RUINED my car by pouring sugar in the tank!" Have you never heard of alliteration? It said destroying community spirit if I recall. Far different from destroying peoples lives. But hey - why should a little hyperbole get in the way of a good rant
poppet2
It said destroying community spirit if I recall. Far different from destroying peoples lives. But hey - why should a little hyperbole get in the way of a good rant "Britain's housing crisis and the resulting rise of a generation locked out of home ownership is DESTROYING community spirit and preventing young people from building careers, forming relationships and starting families." So you don't think that the above sentence results in ruining people's lives? Oh, and let's not forget to use the original word 'destroying', which means the same thing! In that case, I wonder why such a well respected newspaper chose to print this? People locked out of home ownership, which means people have no choice but to either rent or live with their parents until the time comes when they have to pay extortionate rents in London and pay somebody else's mortgage. Meanwhile, the uncertainty of renting prevents starting families, building careers or forming relationships.
Obelix
Where abouts in there does it say "destroying lives"? It doesn't. Now if you don't want to admit that fine, but everyone knows you are making stuff up now.
