Rasputin, Archduke Ferdinand, ww1, strange coincidence

Recommended Posts

as we come up to the 100 anniversary of WW1 and we get another step closer to WW 3 with the recent events in the ukraine /

here's a strange coincidence/

rasputin and ferdinand were both murdered at the exact same time on June 26, 1914

The Archduke Ferdinand was murdered shortly before eleven. Rasputin was stabbed at 2:15, and 10:55 in Sarajevo was exactly 2:15 in Pokrovskoe. The man whose death caused the First World War, and the man who could have been an influence on averting the war, were struck down at the same moment.

Alexander Kerensky the last prime minister of the post Tsarist Provisonal Government said that if there had been no Rsputin there would have been no Lenin. By the same token if the Tsar's only son and heir had not suffered from hemophilia there would have been no Rasputin

The illness of a single boy could be said to have influenced the course of Russian history but obvioulsy other factors played a part too

every schoolboy, not even just the more diligent ones, knows that Rasputin and Franz Ferdinand were assassinated in two totally different years.

the two different calendars might be a bit off, but they are not as off as all that.

How does the man in the street benefit by twinning one town to another?

Anyone know?

wasn''t it all done back in the (Good old??) days when Blunkett and Betts wanted to annex us to the Eastern Block and flew their red flag from the town hall. It was more symbolic than any benefit to us and allowed them to visit Ukraine whilst at the same time allowing suspect commies here under the guise of a partnership.

I remember at that time when you came over the boundary into Sheffield a sign informed you that you were entering a nuclear free zone.

I always felt reassured that I was safe from nuclear attack at that point.

Interesting to think that the fall of two of Europe's monarchs Louise Sixteenth of France and Tsar Nicholas the second of Russia were caused in large part by their marriage to hare brained Germanic Princesses.

Rasputin's influence over Alexandra Empress of Russia caused her to make grievous mistakes during the Tsar's absence at the front during WW One. These mistakes led to the downfall of the Romanovs

As for Marie Antoinoinette? "Let them eat cake"
