Well I did, and if you have patience to read all of it I think you would too!

Yes, you understood it because you read through the thread.

I suggest you take Frederick1's advice.

I don't know why when people are asked to clarify a point they are trying to make go all shy....

Like i said previosly, immigration and entitlement to benefits needs looking at urgently in the uk.

We are the soft touch of europe.

For such a small island it cant carry on can it.

The jobs mentioned in one post such as fruit picking etc were traditionally done by immigrants yes but in the past they were here on their own, not trying to support a family and expecting to get a house and a living wage from it.

Fruit picking is done in other countried by migrant workers too, usually students on a gap year or younger migrants taking a year out.

All they get and expect is enough money from it to pay for their hostel or digs and a bit of left over for socialising. None of them expect to be able to set up home and raise a family on the meagre pay do they!? In the uk with our stupid system its quite possible though and that needs changing. A massive difference between a meagre job to get you by and a proper job to support you and build a life.

Any migrant has to prove that they are earning at least 150 pounds a week, doing fruit picking or any other job,in order to qualify for benefits.

Thats the problem im talking about.

£150 a week means you have to claim benefits.

Its not a family wage and taking out of the system more than you put in isnt sustainable.

Well, unless they can get 150 from fruit picking or whatever, they can't expect to be getting a house or benefits or support a family from it like you have claimed in 'we are the soft touch of Europe? ,So how is it 'quite possible' to raise a family with 'our stupid system' in the UK in one post, and in this post quoted,150 is not a family wage?..............it's either one or the other.

Try reading the post.

£150 isnt a living wage without the benefits!

Taking out more than you put in isnt sustainable.

All this is in previous posts but youve obviously only read what you want to.

Its a meagre wage for a meagre job, not a living wage!

The benefits sytem is to blame for the fact that people can take a job like that and still expect to live on it as a family.

I thought all benefits were capped at £500 a week, per household.

They are, thus I suspect the Mail is stretching the point a little.

Daily Mail article:

they qualify for a raft of benefits which they say total £55,200

If only a journalist could find the truth.
