woolyhead
At first I thought the transmission had worn but now it looks as if the gearbox mounts are worn. Can I tighten them up or is it a replacement job?
speleo1
if they are loose you can tighten them up, but it will probably need replacement job.
geared
Very unlikely that they are loose, unless someone's been monkeying around with the car. Most likely they're worn and need replacing, not usually hard or expensive. Best to check all the other engine mounts tho, make sure none of them are on their way out too. woolyhead
Thanks for the replies. I'll start looking under the car. ---------- Post added 30-07-2014 at 14:46 ---------- I know this is a different topic but you guys seem to know a lot about car repair so I thought I'll give it a try. A 1999 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 seems to have a petrol filter. Where is it situated? My friend's car stops, "rests", then runs again and I think the needle valve seating is disrupted by grit in the fuel, causing it to flood, drain away, then run again. But since it has a petrol filter, how can this happen?
