Clunking noise when I release the clutch on a Saxo

Very unlikely that they are loose, unless someone's been monkeying around with the car.

Most likely they're worn and need replacing, not usually hard or expensive.

Best to check all the other engine mounts tho, make sure none of them are on their way out too.

Thanks for the replies. I'll start looking under the car.

I know this is a different topic but you guys seem to know a lot about car repair so I thought I'll give it a try. A 1999 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 seems to have a petrol filter. Where is it situated? My friend's car stops, "rests", then runs again and I think the needle valve seating is disrupted by grit in the fuel, causing it to flood, drain away, then run again. But since it has a petrol filter, how can this happen?
