BoroB
It looks like they are moving into the 20th century and are going to start opening longer. Yeah but we're in the 21st Century now whilst the council are still stuck in the 20th Century in thinking that people still want to shop at markets. Evidence clearly shows this is not the case. rossyrooney
But at least it's a start, you never know they might start selling what people want.

BoroB
But at least it's a start, you never know they might start selling what people want. I don't think that its a case of the market not selling what people want, more a case of people having a lot more alternatives now. ---------- Post added 08-08-2014 at 08:08 ---------- The right market, offering the right shopping experience can still work, right products. It doesnt need everyone to shop there. The trouble is that there are several options offering a better shopping experience for shoppers. All supermarkets offer my family all the goods under one roof that we need on a weekly basis and they come with convenient opening times and free parking. retep
Does anyone know where demolition is due to start? The new market will probably be gone before the old one, going on the past record of the council.
dutch
The new market will probably be gone before the old one, going on the past record of the council. That is a good point. As soon as they realised the arena costs them money they started demolition immediately.

How much are you betting? ---------- Post added 14-10-2014 at 10:48 ---------- That is a good point. As soon as they realised the arena costs them money they started demolition immediately. The arena stood for over 20 years, was losing half a million a year that the council rightly decided could be spent on better things and is going to be replaced by something much bigger and better. kidneystone
In my opinion they should spend some money doing it up and re-opening it. The new one on the moor may look nicer but that's all its got going for it.
