woodmally
When the Bangles sang eternal flame they were not on about Gracelands but Sheffields finest. It looks like its on fire again. https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/video-firefighters-tackling-blaze-near-old-sheffield-ski-village-1-9330826
Daven
Was very visible from the top of Stannington. Looked like a significant blaze in more than one spot to me.

Top Cats Hat
Are there any planning applications going in for the ski village site?
Annie Bynnol
There was a significant fire in the wooded area immediately to the south of the top of ski slope. The flames at one time (3.00pm) were about 5m high in the burning trees. The plume of smoke was light brown consistent with a woodland grass fire. As I saw it from the Tesco car park on Infirmary Road, I would not have confused it with any other fire in the area.
catmiss
I have a bird's eye view of Parkwood Springs from my kitchen window in Walkley. This was the worst fire I've seen. I've been told it started behind the new school being built in Pitsmoor and certainly the first flames were well to the left {as I look at it} of the ski village. Over about half an hour the flames spread towards the edge of the ski village with several areas of flames springing up and being doused down before flaring up again. It seemed to take quite a lot of effort before the fire was totally extinguished leaving a lot of charred trees/shrubbery
