Isabelle
Have a polite word with your neighbour, he may not even realise it is causing you a problem. It may be a slight inconvenience to him to find an alternative space or get a permit, but it is obviously a severe inconvenience to your partner, who can no longer leave the house alone. What if there was an emergency and she was home alone? If he is a decent person he will understand. He has probably got away with it for some time, and he should pay up like the other residents. Resident
First of all, apologies, on my phone ATM. Answers to questions. 1. All houses are owned by 1 landlord. Lease agreement states its not to be used for parking. When we signed our agreement landlord said it would be OK for a few mins if we had a bulky item ie washer to unload. 2. Already done the "quiet" word and in fairness he did stop for all of 2 days. Other tenants have mentioned that he has been asked before by them and been ignored. Resident
No we're renting from the 1 landlord. Tbh I posted up because we're at the stage of needing to take it further but I wasn't sure who to go to, the landlord because of the lease breach or the council for the permit fee avoidance. The permit itself isn't much, works out at less than 50p a week.
Querty
Why not get him a permit (and pay for it if there's a charge) that way everyone's a winner.
Guest sibon
Or borrow a couple of really old cars for a day or two, and box him in.
999tigger
Get the LL to sort it. If you go complaining to the Council i.e a third party then you are letting yourself in for a whole lot of bother. The neighbour will see it as petty, vindictive and war. You have been warned.
Querty
if she is registered as disabled check with social services about getting wheelchair access back & front here in Redditch they have altered our access back & front for wheelchair access & provided a designated disabled parking bay The designated disabled parking bays that are in residential areas are usually un enforceable and rely on public courtesy that the op's neighbour seems to lack and this would still not alleviate the original problem. Should take all the heat out of the situation although he's not forced to accept.
Resident
Why not get him a permit (and pay for it if there's a charge) that way everyone's a winner. Why should we pay "an extra premium" to be able to access a property we already pay for? I know its not much but we already pay for the access in our rent. Emailed LL with time/date/GPS stamped images this morning. We'll see what happens.
