I think people have a fear of Jw teachings and in the past people have been shunned , also because of beliefs for example JWs who have had blood to save lives , I have a friend who was JW in the UK she was given a transfusion ( husband ok'd it he wasn't a JW ) who was shunned by her church and ex communicated ! We are now living in a time when surgeons are actively looking for ways of operating without the use of blood as it offers quicker recovery times and none of the risks of infection from the blood supply .
