SnailyBoy
God foretold that bad things would happen : Revelation 11:18: "But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to BRING TO RUIN THOSE RUINING THE EARTH " notice man would be ruining the earth ,if God stopped man doing this before it happened how could this scripture be fullfilled ? here we are and man is ruining the earth destroying the enviroment ,corrupting it through and through , nobody lives in peace and the earth is a place of turmoil. But notice the scripture mentions an appointed time , time for what ? Well, so did REM.. That's great, it starts with an earthquake Birds and snakes, an aeroplane, and Lenny Bruce is not afraid Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn World serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs Feed it up a knock, speed, grunt, no, strength The ladder starts to clatter with a fear of height, down, height Wire in a fire, represent the seven games And a government for hire and a combat site Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the Furies breathing down your neck Team by team, reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped Look at that low plane, fine, then Uh-oh, overflow, population, common group But it'll do, save yourself, serve yourself World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed Tell me with the Rapture and the reverent in the right, right You vitriolic, patriotic, slam fight, bright light Feeling pretty psyched It's the end of the world as we know it It's the end of the world as we know it It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine
fatrajah
How about Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival? Also In The Year 2525 by Zager & Evans. Both in the charts in 1969. According to these songs we're all doomed. Edited June 6, 2015 by fatrajah

It's accepted by scholars that the author of Revelation was writing about the Roman Empire who had conquered and dominated his country. To write about events that might happen thousands of years into the future would be meaningless and futile to his contemporaries. And who and what is "ruining the earth"? Jehovah's Witnesses, particularly in the USA, are likely to have invested in the very companies that are implicated in your accusation.

Also notice that the words "the appointed time" only appears in the JW own corrupted New World Translation of the Bible. All the other scripture translations state "the time for the dead to be judged." Another example of how the JW's have changed and manipulated things to fit their own belief and especially that about the end or apocalypse. carosio
It's an interesting book in many ways, and a happy hunting ground for Evangelists: "As a source, the book of Revelation is something of an outlier for a book of the Bible that got accepted into the canonical New Testament of most branches of Christianity: it is the only explicitly eschatological work in the New Testament, its date of composition is generally taken to be far later than the other books, its content is dramatic, and its author is not certain. According to Wikipedia: Revelation was the last book to be accepted into the Christian biblical canon, and even at the present day some Nestorian churches reject it. It was tainted because the heretical sect of the Montanists relied on it and doubts were raised over its Jewishness and authorship, and it was not until 419 that it was included in the canon. Is this the full story of why it was accepted late (reaction against Montanists, doubts over its Jewishness and authorship), and what justification was there for it's final inclusion that overcame these barriers to admission to the canon?" Matthew 24:14 (Contemporary English Version) "When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come " The question is the end of what ? No the deeper question is why the Jehovas corrupted New World Translation of the Bible has added the extra text "the appointed time" that is in no other Bible translation. So far there are too many questions you have evaded and only reply by quote scripture text.
