Dick Gaughan and Jim Page

Live at

The Greystones

Greystones Road, Sheffield, S11 7BS

Wednesday 12th November 2014

8.00pm (doors 7.30pm)

Dick Gaughan is Scotland’s most passionate troubadour, a singer and guitarist whose performances both burn with a fierce conviction and smoulder with equally heartfelt compassion.

The only performer to hold the dual honours of a Lifetime Achievement Award from BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards and induction into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, Dick Gaughan makes a welcome return to Sheffield.

Unusually, since Dick nearly always tours solo in the UK, he is touring on this occasion with an opening act. This performer will be Jim Page, a great songwriter and singer from Seattle, USA, who Dick has long admired. Jim is possibly best known over here for writing the song, "Hiroshima Nagasaki Russian Roulette", with which Christy Moore had great success some years ago.

"He has one of the finest and most sublime voices on the planet, capable of capturing the heart with the most tender of traditional ballads in one moment and stirring the fire of the spirit with his uncompromising commentary on social injustice in the next... an unforgettable artist, able to change the way that you think and feel through the power of music." (Appleseed Recordings)

"Gaughan is absolutely one of the best in the world." (Frets)

"In any style, on any stage, Gaughan is one of folk music's guitar geniuses as well as one of Scotland's finest singers." (Dirty Linen)

“Every now and again I encounter a singer who gives me a glimmer of hope. Jim Page carries the light.” (Christy Moore)

“Jim Page’s songs get right to the point. He looks at the world clearly and reports what he sees with compassion, humor and a biting sense of irony. And boy! can he sing and play. If you’re ever going to get the message, this is the messenger to get it from.” (U. Utah Phillips)

Dick's last concert sold out over two weeks before the performance so get your tickets early!! This intimate and unique concert will sell-out!
