Mr Bloom
Their argument has been that there is not enough money in the public purse for public sector increases, and eventually only 1%. So, let them stick by that. It should be law. After all 'we're all in this together', aren't we Dave?
razvanalbu
You will find that governments make the policies but its civil servants who really run the country. No civil servants as the name suggest their are only servants doing as they are told/command and have no input on any decision
Anna B
The initial question is a good one. Just how important are MPs? Are they worth the money? Do we need 640+ of them, and do they deserve a pay rise? Considering the system we have at present is probably in terminal decline and not fit for purpose, these are questions that need answering. If we only have 1 MP wouldnt that be dictatorship. If you think they are only worth £20k a year thats near enough minimum wage, we will only get the dumb people wanting the job
Tommo68
.................... Most MP are millionaires already and dont need the money, they are doing it to help the UK people and not for money! Also the word gullible is not in the dictionary. . . janlizzy
No civil servants as the name suggest their are only servants doing as they are told/command and have no input on any decision Do you really think that's how it is? All politicians worldwide take advice on policy from the advisors, civil servants. The policy may be the idea of governments but its the civil servants who do the hard work. Tommo68
Given their last effort I don't think we have a lot to worry about. http://www.whitehavenandwesternlakeland.co.uk/johnpauljones/raid.htm Maybe we should let them... and then surrender, germany and japan did not do too badly out of that idea, though the us is practically bankrupt now so it probably 60 years too late now. Your link was interesting ... . .
Mister M
If we only have 1 MP wouldnt that be dictatorship. If you think they are only worth £20k a year thats near enough minimum wage, we will only get the dumb people wanting the job That statement says a great deal about your attitude to people who are in low paid work. What job do you do, and does it reflect your abilities and potential?
alchemist
If you think they are only worth £20k a year thats near enough minimum wage, we will only get the dumb people wanting the job Is it fair to assume, given that comment, that you are in a job that pays well under 20k? Mister M
Is it fair to assume, given that comment, that you are in a job that pays well under 20k? Well under 20k according to this post: I am unemployed. Life is hard when you have a few kids and no job. People look down on you thinking you are a scrunger when we only have Just over £200 a week to live on So according to razvanalbu dumb people work for under 20k, yet he's on the dole. How typical
