ysoserious
My microwave seems to be working perfectly apart from the fact it will not heat. Any ideas ?

razvanalbu
If a microwave is not heating things up. I wouldnt call it working perfectly
aliceBB
Are you sure it won't heat? (Some dishes don't work very well in m/wave ovens in that the food is left tepid. But the dish is usually searingly hot). Otherwise, unless it was very expensive or is still under guarantee, it would probably cost more to have it checked, let alone repaired, than to buy a new one. dannio
It will be the magnetron that is faulty - its the bit that provides the microwaves, which in turn adds the heat - the rest is just a light and a motor. The magnetron is THE most expensive bit of the microwave so usually, they are deemed beyond economic repair if it fails. Unless of course it is a top range silly expensive 1. If its mid range - simply replace - probably be cheaper than replacing the magnetron and getting a microwave leak test.

Stranza
I have no idea what a magnetron is but now have slightly more respect for my microwave!
yellowperil
Its not as easy as just having a look if youre inexperienced though. Theres a capacitor in there that holds a massive charge, you could still get a good shock from it even if the machine isnt plugged in!

Stranza
I'm sure Megatron is a Transformer and isn't he the leader of the Decepticons? I was assuming they were connected. I fully expect my microwave to transform into something amazing now I know it's secret.
