I guess its a matter of does the OP want to smooth the waters with mum? That's not what you said before, you said there was an agreement in writing and that the op had to pay. 2 years ago the boyfriend offered to pay for a holiday, now he wants his money back. This would only be a matter for the small claims court, at best, and even then any claim against you would be thrown out. I don't agree with the 'making up' advice. I do think that you've seen the nature of the beast and would be wise to never put yourself in a vulnerable position with the same people again. But - you can forget the 'money' issue.
