chem1st
In England last year, there were more admissions to hospital of over-65s for alcohol-related injuries and illnesses than in the 16-24-year-old category. Researchers say roughly one-third of older drinkers are thought to first develop their drink problem in later life. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19509434 Young people are drinking less and less, and older people are drinking more and more. Have you been to a pub recently in a residential area? There aren't many young people in them. Older people are now more likely to be admitted to hospital for alcohol related injuries than young people. Is alcohol too cheap or have pensioners got too much money? *_ash_*
Please show me where (in the article) does it say "drunkard pensioners are clogging up the NHS". ... or how this is ever a reasonable question: Is alcohol too cheap or have pensioners got too much money? chemist, you've been reading too many tabloids I think. That looks like a Sun Poll question, and one of their worse ones. Also this link is 2 years old. Is it because of the Scotland aspect?
