scargill
Sometime in the late 70s at a guess, my grandfather who had recently been widowed met a woman via the personal section (there lies another thread) for a first date he took her on the number 2, full circle, as you can imagine this was first and last date. petcharlie
Hi has a bus driver based at Herries Road I used to love working on the No 2 and 59 routes .It used to give you a break from all the city to outer estate journeys which were always busy and you were always running against the clock. Most estate journeys in those days were run from Bridge Street and all we had was a small hut to drink our tea.Mind you the entertainment was first class when inspector Smith was on duty.If you had a couple of trips on the outer circular your shift was more or less complete but the pace at which you drove was less on the circular than the town routes ,far more relaxing. It was a nice change going along Rivelin Valley to the old post office far better than racing up and down Penistone road and back checking your watch every two seconds to see how late you were.
