asti
Greetings, just bought a Suzuki vitara 4x4 1996 2litre v6 24valve petrol. My question is does it have a timing chain or a belt?

geared
The Chain can still stretch or the tensioner can break, so it's still something you need to keep in mind. Might be worth looking around online to see if the owners club has any information that might help.
old tup
I owned a 1998 Suzuki Vitara and that had a timing belt.I don't know if there is any difference between mine and yours mine was a turbo diesel.I owned it from new for 12 years one of the best motors I ever had I sold it for 2 grand it had 112 thousand miles on the clock and it still ran like a Swiss watch. spilldig
I never did like timing belts. Had two go, but never a chain.
geared
I owned a 1998 Suzuki Vitara and that had a timing belt.I don't know if there is any difference between mine and yours The Two Litre V6 Petrol was mainly sold in Australia I think, it does have a timing chain. Not as common as other engines, but should be able to get parts over in OZ.
