Oh Carol
Has anyone an idea how to reclaim a refund on car tax? You used to be able to go to a post office and obtain a V14 reclaim form but not any longer and the assistants do not seem to know the correct procedure anymore since the system has altered, and some say the V14 form is no longer in use. I have the disc with 6 months tax left having sold the car it was on I cannot print a V14 off the internet as my printer is on the blink but anyway i am not sure it would be valid anymore..................suggestions please, and thanks in advance! geared
When you send the V5 off to change the owners details the DVLA should automatically refund you any full months tax back. So you can expect 5 months tax money back.
steveh
As above if you've sold the car and told the dvla you'll get the money back automatically now.

kevvy
I know it's a pain but i'd be inclined to contact the DVLA either by phone or Email and let them know. Then they haven't got an excuse to delay the refund and claim they haven't had notification.

There's no need, you simply date the V5 with the date the car was sold. jb
yellowperil
How will the op get the refund if they paid cash for the disk? Is a cheque issued? Id be inclined to keep copies of the v5 you send back with the date of sale on and the disk details and email them too,it wouldnt be the first time the dvla have dropped the ball. I think I got cheques before with the old system...why should it be different now? Genuine question..
yellowperil
Because its all geared towards direct debits or bank transfers now. And as its a new system there are bound to be teething problems.

A cheque refund has always been issued even if you paid online.
