daisy2
I was discussing the Sidewalk with a friend just the other day! They did lovely scones and coffee. It was a good place for people watching.
Sidery
Oh! I loved the Sidewalk. I'd go there with my mates on a Saturday. We'd just hang out with coffees. Cool moments with boyfriends. A special time! I will come back to UK this next year and visit, but having read the blogs, it sounds run down.
178 Patricia
I remember the Sidewalk Café on Change Alley, there was a group of us went there every afternoon at 4.00pm when we finished at Whiteley's Commercial College on Surrey Street in the late 60's, we often mixed with the famous faces of Sheffield, such as Joe Cocker, Dave Berry, Peter Stringfellow. 178 Patricia

Change Alley was demolished around 1966, perhaps you meant 'Marsden's ? ---------- Post added 26-04-2016 at 20:36 ---------- This had to be the meeting point for most Sheffield groups in the sixties, Dave Berry & the Cruisers, The Bitter Suite, Glyn Barry, Joe Cocker who occasionally sang with the Bitter suite. It was a great atmosphere but difficult getting in if the groups were there but well worth it...A Don't remember Joe singing with 'Bitter Suite' -even as a guest- as he'd been in U.S. for years by the time they were formed. Even 'Dean Marshall and the Deputies'- the 1963 nucleus of that group- and in both cases that was Barry Marshall anyway. stpetre
The 'Sidewalk Cafe' was frequented by 'Ten Bob Millionaires' ten or more years before 'Josephines' (1976) re-invented them.
Walkley0 Mum
My dad was a regular there in the sixties, particularly on Saturdays when there was a break in licensing hours. He had a mate who worked in a fashion shop, Harry Fenton (?) on Chapel Walk and he used to wait in The Sidewalk for him to finish work before they went up to the Buccaneer. neilbridges
Remember eating in the downstairs area and them having a bowl of cucumber and onions soaking in vinegar, delicious. Loved the side walk when most Saturdays and then on to the Zodiac in the flats. Neil

Dreb48
My grandmother had a bowl of that on the go, constantly, loved it. Still make it myself. Oven bottom bread cake, some nice ham and then load it on. That's heaven! Incidentally, though I didn't do the Sidewalk often, I used to buy virtually all my trendy gear from Harry Fentons, opposite. I'm sure it must have been there for a few years during 60s/ 70s. Wasn't the manager called Barry?
