Lound school in late forties

Recommended Posts

Hi Bill,I remember going to Lound school on the Corporation bus

I learned to identify the type of bus from the sound of the engine.

There were Guy,Crossley, Regent,Leyland and another one that escapes me

I only remember the name of one teacher and that was Mrs Bradshaw ( I think).

Her husband was a coal miner and she took the entire class to her house to see an owl they had rescued

We used to go on "nature walks",I remember being as sick as a dog from eating Billberry's

There was an annex across the road and down the hill a little ways, some of our classes were there. There were no toilets you had to go back up to the school if you had to go

Thats were we took the 11 plus.

Only two places reserved in grammar school for the new Parson cross kids Top boy and top girl

I can't say they were happy times.
