*Belle*
Coppers arent worth more than the rest of us. Whilst this may be true, the job is such that they are more likely to be in a situation where the perceived deterrent may be more welcome.

Thats a fair point. But they do choose a dangerous job. No one forces them. Besides im incredibly cynical about the timing of all this. Some 'fallen hero bobbies' being plastered on the news at the exact same time plenty of forces around the country are rightly taking flack for their crap policing. Because people choose a dangerous occupation are you saying that their safety shouldn't be made paramount? I don't think you can blame the bobbies on the beat for what's happening at the moment.. Soldiers choose to do the job they do. Would you be okay if Lee Rigby's killers were released with the same attitude?

He isn't being released with the attitude of the poster you quoted, but with the recommendation of the parole board. I would be fine if lee rigby's killers got the same treatment. I was alluding to the attitude Roberts portrayed in the article, not the posters attitude. ---------- Post added 23-10-2014 at 21:33 ---------- Have they served 40+ years? If they had and they were showing the same propensity towards violence as Roberts has would you?
Happ Hazzard
The justice system in this country proves itself to be an utter joke yet again! The next time we are told that such and such a criminal will "definitely serve a whole life sentence", this case proves that you can't believe anything they say. Roberts wasn't told he would definitely serve a whole life sentence. So your point is, well, pointless. The trial judge recommended 30 years.
