The idea that just because he is 78 he is different is nonsense; he reveled in his notoriety and has apparently shown zero remorse. He will remain a danger until he is incapacitated or dead. don't know what kind of physical condition this guy's in. 45 years trainng in the prison gymn? n I wouldn't like to even guess at the mental state of someone who could calmly gun down policemen, -then revel in the notoriety of it for years. Do you think he's a nice cuddly old granpa now? Roberts wasn't told he would definitely serve a whole life sentence. So your point is, well, pointless. The trial judge recommended 30 years. When the death penalty was abolished, we were promised that in return, life would mean life without parole. They lied to us. Roberts and his two accomplices should have been hanged. He should die in prison, preferably in solitary confinement. Prison is 100% effective. So long as scum like Roberts are inside, they cannot endanger innocent citizens.
