dondewey
Lobster: Yes, Henry was clearly playing around, explaining why James went to the United States with his mother but without his father. I was beginning to think the father had died, but you and Hillsbro have provided far more enticing truths. Thank you again.
hillsbro
David Edward was Henry's nephew his father was David Blacktin mother Rebecca ?Yes indeed - I just found the family in Bradford in the 1871 census. There was clearly a link between the Blacktins of Sheffield and those of Bradford & Halifax, and the 2012 electoral roll still shows a number of Blacktins in these areas. A 748-page book "British Saws and Saw Makers from 1660" is on its way to me; this might shed some light on the family's saw manufacturing activities.
