Fresh fish and children

Seems to work well for the Japanese :D.

Are you sure? Do a search for Minamata disease

"1956. Mercury discharges from the Chisso chemical plant contaminated finfish and shellfish, devastating the community's human and animal population for decades. Many of the region's citizens died and tens of thousands of people suffered mercury-related illnesses."

Having said that, I have worked and lived in isolated fishing communities in Arctic Norway and Newfoundland where the normal daily menu consisted of fish or shellfish, never seemed to have done the locals much harm.

No reason he can't have fish twice a week. Nutritionally it would be best if he had one white fish and one oily fish though.

For certain types of fish there are recommendations about the maximum amount you should eat.

Women and girls should eat no more than two portions of oily fish a week if they may become pregnant in future or if they are currently pregnant or breastfeeding. This is because pollutants found in oily fish may affect the development of a baby in the womb in the future.

Men and boys, and women and girls who know they won't become pregnant in future, can eat up to four portions of oily fish a week.
