El Cid
A man has been barred from entering a park because of a policy banning single men or women without children from visiting the attraction in case they are paedophiles. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/man-banned-from-entering-park-on-his-own-because-of-paedophile-fears-9849602.html?cmpid=facebook-post
cgksheff
Some poor reporting going on again. Similar policies exist at many other child-based attractions. Gulliver's Kingdom, for example. This customer was not banned. He fell foul of Puxton's failure to adequately publicise the prior notice required when a single adult wishes to visit the Falconry Displays. Their are also many valid reasons for restricting unaccompanied adults into such theme parks, other than any spurious 'paedo risk', but the park manager would appear to either be a bit dim or have been misquoted. Sloppy park management and sloppy reporting, but at least we get the obligatory 'sad photo': http://www.westerngazette.co.uk/Single-adults-banned-park-case-paedophile/story-24477493-detail/story.html Edited November 10, 2014 by cgksheff

Minimo
As a single woman of very mature years, I am also banned.
cgksheff
Could you name some of them? Yes. Thank you. Can't you? One would be that, as a commercial enterprise, they can increase their attendance of their target market by having a restriction on non-family groups. Whatever it's there for, it's ridiculous! It's costing the park money, surely? Why are people so stupid? ---------- Post added 10-11-2014 at 09:20 ---------- Yes. Thank you. Can't you? andil
What a stupid rule! I agree Can you please explain how banning single customers can make more revenue? If the park owner thinks that single people walking round the park are likely to put some families off visiting the park then it might be beneficial to ban single people. Have you ever booked an holiday and looked for accommodation that is for families only with no singles or groups of singles allowed? RootsBooster
What a stupid rule! Whatever it's there for, it's ridiculous! It's costing the park money, surely? Why are people so stupid? I think it's possibly a dangerous rule. By having this rule it could or would; 1) Force paedophiles to 'hunt in packs', ie a man and woman going together. The teamwork increasing their chances of snaring a victim. 2) Create a false sense of security, people being less on their guard and on the lookout for such danger. They tend to be rowdy and cause trouble. This is a single parson, not a group. ---------- Post added 10-11-2014 at 09:58 ---------- I think it's possibly a dangerous rule. Do you really think that paedophilia is that much of a problem?
RootsBooster
Do you really think that paedophilia is that much of a problem? No, I never suggested it is. I was pointing out that whatever risks there already are (however small), the organisers may be increasing them (possibly only slightly). The point is, it's a stupid rule that makes no sense.
