Griffly
Our good friend Malc is holding a fundraiser to help fund new equipment for the Chesterman Ward (heart unit) at The Northern General Hospital. There's great live music, raffles and more throughout the day. When you buy a pint, ask for 'One for Spike' and we will put that in the fundraising pot too! The Bands: The Velcro Teddy Bears - Ey up. We are The Velcro Teddy Bears, an unsigned band mainly hailing from a pub in the Steel City of Sheffield. Made up of a gravelly front-man, two brothers and a sleepy drummer, we make rock and roll how rock and roll should be made, straight from the gut and reminiscent of the 70's excess, without the budget. After winning Yorkshire Unplugged in 2012 we made our début EP 'Coming Back For More' , which showcased our rural, country roots. Our follow up Electric 3-track 'From Steel City Sessions' expanded on our city experiences, and our concurrent dip into the music scene. Incorporating both of these elements into our set we are able to take on any stage and deliver accordingly. We run a pub and showcase a lot of live music, and have learnt how to deliver from these weekly lessons in rock and or roll. Our musical prowess is formed through a lifetime friendship and 3 year gigging history. We have a loyal following that testaments our hard work, fun natures, and hopefully good music. Hope you enjoy! New Messiahs - New Messiahs play an intriguing blend of guitar rock and pop with big melodies. Enthusiastically unfashionable, but always suckers for a classic hook, their songs encompass tales of childhood, self-deprecating celebrities and beautifully destructive relationships. Searching For Sylvia - This band started life in Rotherham around 2005 and evolved from its folk/country/indie roots to create a body of work which can be best described as an eclectic mix of guitar-driven, rock with true pop sensibilities. Killer Joules - Introducing Killer Joules! A band that combines blues, funk and alternative rock to great effect. Formed many moons ago, now, after much writing, recording and experimenting, complete, focused and ready to rock! You want to see this band and they want to see you! Rogues - Guitar band from Rochdale, Manchester. David James Riley - David started gigging in 2013 playing mostly solo acoustic material. He recorded a unique cover of Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill' as a winner of Yellow Arch Studio's Hidden Talent Showcase for Cavendish Cancer Care (available on iTunes). Plus raffles throughout the day, DJ's and more!
