Charity Games Night @ The Sherwood Pub, Birley, Thurs 11th Dec 7pm

Good Afternoon everyone, I'm Charlotte and I'm holding a Games Night at The Sherwood Pub on Birley Moor Road on Thursday 11th December 2014 in aid of The Christie NHS Cancer Clinic Charity (registered charity No: 1049751)

 

I take great pride in my community and work hard with local charities such as Weston Park hospital, Safe@Last, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and The Sheffield Children's hospital to name a few.

I am the current Mrs Sheffield Galaxy 2014, which enables me to really push myself into fundraising and use my title to my advantage to give me more of a platform to raise awareness in my area.

 

This year a friend of my family had more bad news rained down on them than anyone I've ever known.

Aged just 26 and over the moon to be 37 weeks pregnant, Chelsea was given the devastating news she had terminal Cancer.

 

She gave birth to a beautiful daughter called Willow and after the birth her treatment began, unfortunately to no avail and she was told she had less than a year to live.

 

Personally, I don't think I could have coped with that news, that my world was crashing around me, but not Chelsea.

She threw herself into life, accepted the diagnosis and spent as much time as possible with Willow and her Fiancé Matt.

 

She was admitted to The Christie, a specialised NHS Cancer Clinic, who provided her with support and guided her through her treatment, along with thousands of other people they help each year.

 

She and Matt got married in June of this year at Aston Hall surrounded by their family and friends, but sadly just three weeks after their wedding day and two weeks before Willows first birthday, Chelsea passed away peacefully.

Chelsea handled her diagnosis with dignity, courage and strength, and it is with that in mind that I'd like to dedicate my night to her.

 

Matt ran the Great Yorkshire Run, in Chelsea's honour along with other family members and friends, and has so far raised £12,360.65 for The Christie, and I would like to add as much as possible to this total.

 

So first of all I would like to invite each and everyone of you to come to my Games Night at The Sherwood Pub on Thursday 11th December at 7pm! We are having a Quiz, Raffle, Auction and other games with all proceeds going to The Christie. We have some great prizes starting to stack up!

 

And secondly I would like to appeal to businesses in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, for any donations to our raffle or auction. The generosity of the people in Sheffield, is what enables us to make a difference, and so far I have had some amazing prizes but I am on the search for more.

You are also more than welcome to attend on the night and advertise your business, or supply me with business cards/flyers and I will ensure they are passed out.

I am also hoping to gain a spot in The Star newspaper, to talk about my event, so donators will be mentioned there also to help gain them more advertising.
