Cloudsailors
I was seriously thinking about having solar panels installed to do my bit for the environment (and lower my fuel bills) but was told it would be impractical due to two trees blocking the low winter sun !! Flippantly, if I cant have solar panels due to an obstructive "council tree", can I send the council my fuel bills? Seriously, is there anything I can do and would I have to pay to get the tree felled? Its a sycamore so not "endangered"
geared
You want to 'save the environment' by destroying some of it :hihi :hihi: You could get onto the environmental department, they'd probably be the ones to talk to about cutting tree's down. vincentb
Where are the trees - on your property, on a neighbour's property, or on the roadside?
geared
Sounds like roadside as it's a council tree in question.
Cloudsailors
That's the irony yeah, confusing. Have to admit tho that sycamore trees are a nuisance with sap and seeds as well as leaves to contend with. Clearing up seems to be a year round battle. so it's kind of a double- whammy. ---------- Post added 20-11-2014 at 10:19 ---------- Where are the trees - on your property, on a neighbour's property, or on the roadside? Yeah it's road-side. a couple have been pruned/ felled for the sake of buses on the one-way system ??
999tigger
As said above contact environmental health, but unlikely they will be bothered as theres no danger and its entirely for your benefit. You have no right to sunlight.
Cloudsailors
Yeah tigger, that's the kind of response I was anticipating they'd give me, thanks for that. On the face of it I would be the only one benefitting in the short term so I'd expect to get the thumbs down. no harm in trying tho but its probably a weak argument ? 999tigger
You have no legal right from what I could see, but youd be asking them to spend money so you could make money. I know what I would say if I were the Council. I thought the current tariff ended in December and was now much less attractive i.e you are a bit late. geared
What if you offered to pay for the felling???
Cloudsailors
I suppose offering to pay for the felling would possibly sway the decision. A neighbouring shop has problems with deliveries/ parking because of the tree too. so ive run the whole thing by the owner hoping he'd add his concerns and support too. its worth a try.
