cookingfat50
all tree's are protected by law and can't be felled, unless they are dangerous, if it's in your property then your responsible for keeping it in good order, the council if it's in the street they may take the top you need to ask the council to send out a tree surgeon to assess the tree and see what they can do x

Orzel
My understanding is that landowner can chop down, prune or do whatever he wishes with any tree on his land if its not in conservation area and has no TPO on it. So looking through all TPO and conservation areas on council website should be theoretical sufficient to make sure that you are free to do that. Am I wrong ? ANGELFIRE1
A lot depends if the offending tree has a TPO (tree preservation order) on it. Angel1
