But I have seen my team compete at the top level play in and even win a major cup final play in Europe.Doubt anybody in Sheffield will ever see that again.

Why not though? Yes, both teams are pretty rubbish at the moment - certainly nowhere near Premier League challengers... but Southampton were in L1 not that long ago, Wigan and Portsmouth have won the FA Cup, Hull got to the final last time and europe with it... yes it will take some bold investment and a good manager (better than either currently there), but we both will be back in the PL within the next decade for sure...

Right, where are those tablets again... :)

I'll have a point of what that mans drinking! :)

Hope you're right, for both of our sakes, Sheffield supporters must be amongst the most loyal in the land, given the lack of success.

Lol, they say it's the hope that kills you. :)

But.......

Southampton have proved that you can be a selling club and make it work.

92m for five players and only three and a bit years out of the pub league. The moral of the tale perhaps is don't sell yourselves short and use the proceeds wisely.

Aye they sold £50mil of "talent" to Liverpool alone; and look at the league position of the 2 teams.

It shows what you can do with a good academy ,good managers a supportive chairman and just a little bit of luck.

They must have wet themselves laughing when Liverpool came in with those figures, the 2 guys did it for 1 season at top level and they waded in shouting money, Southampton giggled all the way home.
