We are discussing ancient religious texts and the ways in which their interpretation affects the beliefs, attitudes and most importantly, the behaviour of some/most adherents to particular religions. Some of us are trying to discuss the ancient Islamic religious texts and Islamic conquests that have inspired jihadist ISIS fighters, whilst some are simply dismissing them as an anti-Islamic agenda. ---------- Post added 27-11-2014 at 08:44 ---------- Your intentions are dishonest. This religious text is chiefly an account of Muhammed's life. Muslims are supposed to mirror his behaviours (known as the Sunnah). You are only confused because you don't know much about Islam. Why do you feel it is ok to ignore the negatives aspects of the text and concentrate only on the positive? (I would ask the same question in reverse to those who only follow the hateful aspects of his nature) There is a passage in the Qur'an which makes it clear that what Mohammad said and did last supersedes what he said and did first, and the last ten years of his life was spent leading the Islamic armies that conquered the people of that region, this could be why some just follow the bad and ignore the earlier good, it obviously doesn't account for the Muslims that ignore the bad and just follow the good. Real Muslims in this country and abroad must be sick to the back teeth of being lumped together with murderous maniacs and their religion represented as the faith of a mediaeval rabble. It is rather like calling the IRA or the UDF ' or the Spanish Inquisition, Christian organisations'. Clearly they were not and are not now, whatever they says about themselves. Like ISIS, an ideologically warped band of brutal killers. If these ISIS returnees must be identified by their religion, at least can we make it clear that it is an extremist form of Islam to which they adhere and not the Islam of most Muslims in the world? Take a look at Islam in its backyard not in this country you may find youre ideology concerning Islam is totally incorrect a Muslim is a Muslim is a Muslim and if it goes down to the wire will obey those who govern it ,they have to .
