Sheffield history groups

Recommended Posts

the Hunter Archaeological society have twice-monthly meets, at the university arts tower and at the cultural heritage museum, during the 9 months of the academic year.

they are mostly sheffield based for subjects but there are other lectures now and again which are slightly further afield.

they advertise their meetings in the what's on section of teh local paper.

I go occasionally, when I can get, the lectures and Q/A sessions are very interesting.

The Friends of the General Cemetery group holds regular events in and around the Sheffield General Cemetery, these events are an exciting way of learning all about possible ancestors which may have been buried there as far back as the late 19th century and earlier.

Contact fogc@horton5.freeserve.co.uk for further details, and mention Richard Allen as I used to work for them doing some data inputting.
