Jeffrey Shaw
Perhaps try http://www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk/about-pensions/pensions-basics/top-tips-for-your-pension/choosing-an-ifa or the HMG website locations via https://www.gov.uk/search?q=independent+financial+ad+visors
Benella
I've used Wescourt Financial Services Ltd (0114 2679338 for a number of years. My pension 'pot' has earned 12.5% in 2012/13 & 21.4% in 2013/14. I've never had a problem with this company. They offer very good advice & warn of the many 'get rich quick' pitfalls that are out there. By the way, I don't work for this company, on the contrary, they work for me. A good advisor can make all the difference. The law has changed and the cowboys have been outlawed. Wescourt look like a good firm, I use Russell Ulyatt Wealth Management, They charge a % of the gross fund managed and this comes out of the growth. http://www.russellulyatt.co.uk/welcome/wealth-management/

Jeffrey Shaw
If you really want to pay lots of money for the privledge of sub par returns then feel free..... Yet HL have a scheme under which one can self-select the investments. If these then yield a sub-par return, it's the investor's own fault! Oh, and HL fees seem very reasonable plus the firm seems efficient and reliable. Any other gripes?

Oh, and HL fees seem very reasonable plus the firm seems efficient and reliable. Any other gripes? Yes they are expensive as said. Have a look at Cavendish for an example and see what the self select or SIPP fees should be...
