small_hall
They didn't really stand a chance with all the sleet and rain we've had today. but they will still come in for a pasting no doubt. They are damned when they do & damned when they dont. With the boxing day snow aside - i think they did a good job last week. I also agree that given the amount of rain today - they didnt have a cat in hells chance at trying to improve the roads. This is the view on stannington road - heading towards Dungworth/Bradfield (hope this works) "][/url]

blackberry
Me too, Id always just thought of it as hail before. Hail comes with Thunderstoms which generally happen in summer. However we just had a thunderstorm and therefore it was hail and not sleet. Have a Google.
kidley
forgive me if i am wrong but, if it was thunder and lightning in lets say in S4 would it not be doing the same all over Sheffield being about 3 - 4 miles up? the thunder + that is? butlers
Suddenly white over now in city centre, moderate snow, maybe 2 cms. Must be borderline temps, not snowflakes only but soft hail http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graupel
