Personally, I'd find it unacceptable for us to alter our legal framework and to impinge upon people's freedom simply to deal with a few extremists. Don't forget also, that extremists come in a variety of flavours. On a related and rather sad note. There is a lot of frothing on here about what to do with the attacker (he probably got what he deserved in the end) and other similar extremists. There has been very little concern from some people about the fate of the hostages. Just another point scoring exercise from the usual suspects, sadly. Islam does not have extremism exclusivity but it is disingenuous to pretend that it doesn't have a bigger problem than any other religion/culture. I'm afraid that the points are not being scored by 'the usual suspects' but by the followers of Islam and they are all own goals.
