Do liverpool people still have a bad name?

Recommended Posts

I think the bad reputation Liverpool and Liverpudlians (unfairly) have, came from the establishment and the right wing national media in the eighties and it just stuck. 1, Liverpool had a socialist council that stuck its fingers up to the Thatcher government, and 2, there was the Heysel disaster which led to English clubs being banned from participating in European club and International football.

Didn't Neil Kinnock have something to say about the leaders of that council?

Only visited there once and had lunch in that pub near the tram terminus on the south side of the river opposite the liver buildings, it was the best pub lunch I've ever had, the starter was a meal in itself.

Yes unfortunately they often do.

It might be sub-liminal upon hearing the accent. Call centres have worked it out with a lot of surveys and scouse = dishonest is a most common reaction.

By the way, these are some others

Geordie = unintelligible

Cockney = same as scouse.

Posh Scottish = Educated

Normal Scottish = same as Geordie.

South Yorkshire = Honest and straight talking

so that's why there are loads of call centres in the Dearn Valley.

I'm not with the call centres and focus groups on this one. A lot of our subliminal thoughts about many things we have no direct experience of is partly shaped by what we see on the television and the media who, in turn, have their own agendas.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that central and local governments offer incentives to call centres to locate into places like the Dearne Valley, where unemployment is high. After all, I think the decision to locate many call centres to India is because labour is cheaper there

That's a deliberately provocative and untrue statement as found by the independent panel who thoroughly investigated the incident.

You can read more below:

Stop doing the dirty work of some of the police who, as the Prime Minister said, tried to smear the dead for what had happened.
