Take out the spark plug, reattach the HT lead and pull start cord and see if there is a spark at the plug. If so check the carburettor to see if fuel is coming through. If no spark, try new spark plug. If still no joy, it culd be magneto coil

These two stroke engines were often ruined by not putting oil in the fuel- if you have a spark and good fuel, not evaperated away old stuff, try getting the compression tested.

It's a 4 stroke engine, new fuel plus a couple of squirts of carb cleaner.

is your rotovator a Wolseley merry tiller? if so and the engine is a B/S 5hp then its a Super Major type.

here is a manual. http://www.allotment-garden.org/rotovator/merry-tiller-rotovator.php

if you still have problems, check out the 'stationary engine' forums and the people there will gladly help.

I'm assuming you have a basic knowledge of engines
