rossyrooney
Warnocks probably made more money out of payoffs following dismissal than most people make in twenty years of working five days a week. Blades who say they'd like him back instead of Clough must be off their head, Warnock was the last manager McCabe showed some patience with and it took him seven years to get us where we wanted and he simply wasn't good enough to keep us there. Stick with Nigel for at least another season after this, no matter what the outcome this season and show some consistency. We played cricket together in Richmond Park as kids and he is as down to earth now as he was then but I reckon he should follow the pundit path too, after all if you look at the published salaries of some of the other pundits why would any sixty odd year old bloke not prefer the shelter of a nice warm studio rather than risk high blood pressure on the touchline on a freezing December night. mjw47
I genuinely believe that if Warnock had been allowed to stay at the Lane when we were relegated from the PL and given plenty of dosh, he would have got us back up again. About time he retired and settled down as a pundit and spent time with his wife who must be one hell of a woman for putting up with his wanderings around the UK. Sheffield United were customers of my company and as such I was at the Lane on business early January of the last season in the Prem. I had a conversation with Andy Daykin and told him that the board should either sack Warnock or move him upstairs. The replacement I suggested was Alan Curbishley. Pity they didn't take up my suggestion. Warnock has a terrific record in getting teams promoted from lower divisions - although at his age now whether or not that still applies is debatable - but he isn't capable of keeping them there. When we lost 2-1 to Newcastle at the Lane, having beaten them 1-0 away we had £8.5 Million worth of ' players for the future ' sat in the stands wearing suits. Seven promotions on his CV, clueless in the top flight.
