Solomon1
Someone has become very rich from the creation and selling of the device you're using to post on here with; you can bet that personal enrichment played no small part in his hard work in doing so. Where would his motivation have come from in a contributionist society? Sorry, missed this post in all the excitement.... If we lived in communities based on contributionism, before computers were invented......why would we need computers?
tinfoilhat
Sorry, missed this post in all the excitement.... If we lived in communities based on contributionism, before computers were invented......why would we need computers? But computers are cool! I have so much knowledge at my finger tips from mission statements from some tribes I've never previously heard to funny cat videos.

But it's not crucial to our existence It's essentially a pastime, isn't it?
anfisa
In YOUR experience of living in Britain today... What about tribal people who have existed like this for millennia? Why? Do they have cars and TV's and many of the other goodies that we take for granted.

anfisa
Why do you think it is not possible to live in a system, other than the one we're in now? We have no choice, we are going to have to find a way of living that is sustainable - as our current system isn't It is not possible for 7 billion people to live on earth using your proposed system, it can only work for very small populations that are happy to live a frugal life, unless we can create a self replicating and repairing machine that can manipulate matter into any form on demand.
