scottf
Just park further up on manchester in crookes and walk down- won't take long and the exercise will do you good. I walk around there with my daughter all of the time and it doesn't take long at all.
Avante
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-parking-rental#cheap Try this link, you can sometimes rent driveway spaces from people that work in the city centre and drive there. It means their house looks more occupied during the day so also helps deter thieves.

Brunette
Sadly that will be your wife plus all of the staff at the Uni, the Hallamshire, the Childrens, Jessops, the Dental hospital, students, patient relatives and seemingly half of Yorkshire, looking at the availability of parking. I've worked in the area for 15 years and the only "free" parking is out of the immediate area and towards Crookes. Bit of a walk and a bit interesting when the paths are icy, but doesn't take more than 10 mins. Personal experience is that if you're not parked by 7.30 or 8am, you're very unlikely to get anything close by

annbaker
She could try parking in the Hunters Bar area and walk along Brocco Bank- someone I know that worked at RHH did this. Not a chance round here these days. Mostly permit parking and what little isn't is always full early doors.
euclid
Do what I do, leave the car at home and get on a bus. Easy. My wife has to go to the Hallamshire to see her Diabetic Consultant and has been going for over 40 years.. both OAP's..now.. we live about 12 miles outside Sheffield going towards Worksop..I leave the car at home and we catch the bus into the city centre (50 minutes) then another up to the Hospital (5 minutes) ,after spending a couple of hours in there( depending on waiting times) we then stroll down to Pond Street.. (calling in at one of the many eateries for a take out).. to catch the bus home, the whole process takes approx 4-5 hours. Its many years since i drove there and the last time it was atrocious trying to park, taking the bus is much easier and less hassle
