Is the European Union becoming a vast fascist state

Recommended Posts

If there was a European wide election for the leader of the EU... Farage would win :D

UKIP's group in the European Parliament, Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy, has 48 members out of 751. It only has members from 7 countries. The one Polish member belongs to a party whose leader, Janusz Ryszard Korwin-Mikke, claimed Hitler didn't know about the Holocaust.

48 of 751 and 7 from 28 would not get anyone elected especially if he is so close to a Hitler-apologist.

If there was an election open to all the electorate in the EU, Farage would win if he stood against a representative from all the countries....

You do know that the Greek government was in such a financial mess (through their own doing) that they would have defaulted and as a consequence would have dragged along a number of the other governments in the EU which in turn would have dragged number of others in as well?

Shows how weak the EU is, held together by sticky tape.

...and then we wonder why Farage is developing such a Messianic complex :hihi:

Here, how's that for weakness and fascism?

Would Greece have been in the same mess had it been able to set it's own financial prarameters? Genuine question..

Do you mean financial parameters as (i) 'optimised' by Goldman Sachs way-back-when or (ii) post-crisis? ;)

My pub counter analysis is that neither would have made any difference: Goldman Sachs fiddled the balance sheet to make Greece's entry into the € club appear more legitimate/palatable, but the scale of the mess is really down to the Greek public services nonsensical splurge since that time until the crisis hit. Made New Labour look positively prudential by comparison :D
