Is the European Union becoming a vast fascist state

Recommended Posts

Franco was an ultra-conservative Catholic monarchist who relied on the support of fascists and Carlists but he controlled and marginalised Falangists in his regime and never sought to transform Spain in the same way Hitler transformed Germany and Mussolini Italy. He was an ultra-conservative rather than a fascist revolutionary.

Please feel free to act on my sense and leave Sheffield.

Born and bred hear matey , with long family history on three sides so I may as well bat on now.

And you!

the past few years have seen most if not all EU countries up the economic spout with austerity measures, cuts etc

the right have always prospered under such conditions, people like to blame others, particularly foriegners, immigrants, and especially under current conditions muslims

germany is a police state anyway , People's lives are regimented by that many rules and regulations which people here would not put up with

Most of Europe and especially so London has become a Police state. Spain has just outlawed people taking pictures or filming of the Police.

What has distance got to do with ruling any country these days  The US Congress and Senate has since 1789 had representatives from all parts of the country in Washington. Therefore they are those "people in Washington"

Does that make sense? It does to me

Distance has a lot to do with it. Haw can someone truly know what's happening in the area without talking directly to the people that live there? You don't have to be on the doorstep to oversee the background admin, but to truly rule, localisation is the key for politics going forward.

You've been away too long. London is totally separate to the rest of the UK and it's getting worse.

In answer to your questions.

Is Europe becoming a vast fascist state? No.

Is it time to leave the European union? No.

That's self evidently untrue.

Can you give some examples?

It is rather annoying that you expect people to provide examples/evidence to back up their claims when your own posts are made up of little soundbites which offer very little to any discussion.

Perhaps you could expand upon your little quotes that you insist on adding to threads where people do actually make an effort to argue a point. Otherwise, despite their point of view, they actually offer a great deal more to the discussion than you ever will.
