It's their religion that, for the most part, shapes their culture and identity. Other beliefs, identities, ideologies makes them insecure; so they lash out, and try to control, to protect their religious identity and Islamic way of life; and they can quiet easily find justification for their behaviour in their holy books and hadith's. Thousands were killed who opposed atheism, read some more history. Don't forget that on average 150 Muslims are killed daily worldwide by other Muslims. The eventual answer to this comes from the Muslim community. As it is a religion of death don't hold your breath. Quite right, It would be awful if the majority of peaceful Muslims were targeted because of this tragic event, which I believe has already started somewhere in France, where a Mosque has been attacked.
