flamingjimmy
You really are dim aren't you? You have been told precisely why I keep posting, firstly I like an argument, secondly I know what my views are and no clown is going to persuade me otherwise, and thirdly it is highly amusing. The best bit, the most brilliantly hilarious, was provided by you. When you claimed at post 589 that ' I do genuinely think I know better than that guy' I nearly burst my sides laughing. 'That Guy' being the published author of numerous factual books on history including the following. He talks of atheism as if he's never met an atheist. On that subject, I still think I know better than him. Why do you think the fact that he's published several books on unrelated topics makes him some otherworldly authority? It's not as if he's some world authority best selling author either, if you go to amazon his books have on average about 3 reviews each. So yeah, I do think I know better than that guy, I think you probably do to, as he doesn't know much about this subject. It's quite amusing that now you're not even trying to argue, you're just saying 'look this guy wrote some books and he agrees with me therefore I'm right', it's insane! Besides, in your own words you didn't even read his article, you just read the headline and the first sentence, so how would you even know if it was any good or not? How can you possibly have any grounds for contesting my deconstruction of it when you didn't even read it?
SnailyBoy
Not necessarily, he could be a gnostic theist True, but that brings up the awkward issue of evidence.
RootsBooster
True, but that brings up the awkward issue of evidence. Only if they had to prove their knowledge to others. Imagine if God actually revealed himself in person to some poor individual, they would know that he exists but how would they ever prove it? How can you possibly have any grounds for contesting my deconstruction of it when you didn't even read it? It's very straight forward really, and difficult to see why anyone with any sense cannot grasp the fact. He is in a different league to you in the intelligence stakes. He has thought about the subject and gone on record with his views. Unlike you, posting under a pseudonym, he has placed his reputation on the line. The first bit that I read was all that mattered to me, I agreed with every word, not being interested in the subject, other than to prove the separateness of Agnosticism from Atheism and Theism, why should I waste my time? The subject bores me. And in no way do I know better than him on that particular subject which he is obviously interested in, and I have little interest in. I will very probably know more than him on the subjects of electronic security, Irish History and the history of Sheffield United Football and County Clare Hurling. Only because he probably has no interest in those matters. His books are on specialist subjects which are rarely mammoth best sellers, but to continue to get published over a period of time proves their worth. I long ago accepted the fact that whilst I do not consider myself thick, some people are cleverer than I am, something which you struggle to accept in your own case. When you have managed to get one book published come back and tell us again how clever you are. This time with something to back it up.

Would you mind answering?
teeny
That's cool but it doesn't answer the question. Would you mind answering? He says if grown ups cant see God they need God spectacles !! He says unless you actually stop debating with words you will never see the truth which God intends us to know
