coolbeans
After some festive excess and January hibernation, Smiling Ivy is back to kick-off 2015 with a full-skanking, hip-shaking hometown headline. On Friday, February 6, we’ll be at Sheffield’s Riverside Live for a night jam-packed with ska, dub, punk, electro swing, DnB, hip-hop, and more. The night will be dedicated to our amazing friend Emma Twigg, who lost her battle with cancer last year. We’ll be spinning a whole load of her favourite tunes (she had cracking taste) and will be donating all proceeds from the gig to Marie Curie Cancer Care. For main support, we’re really excited to welcome rave-rascals Jenova Collective, who had an amazing 2014 on the festival and party circuit. The heavy-hitting Leeds seven-piece will definitely turn up the heat with their eclectic and energising mix of electro swing, DnB, house, breaks and ghetto funk. We’ll also have acoustic trio The Busketeers along for the ride. Comprising of two members from Sheffield ska-legends Bison, the folk stalwarts will be a real treat to kick-off the occasion. DJ Well Aware will be keeping the party rocking and the good vibes flowing - dropping electro swing, ghetto funk, dub, D&B, hip-hop, and mashing-up anything that makes the waistline wiggle. The enormously talented Mexican Sugar Skull will also be there to paint-up your beautiful faces. Tickets cost £3 advance and £5 on the door. Remember ALL PROCEEDS GO TO CHARITY!!!
