medusa Posted January 18, 2015 Share Posted January 18, 2015 IMO there are parallels that can be drawn between them, but only in the sense that there are parallels that can be drawn in attitude between those who commit all 'hate' or 'power' crimes. As others have said, it really depends on what you mean by the terms you use. Someone who just holds a casually racist view is not at all the same as someone who is extreme and disturbed enough to want to harm or eradicate those that they feel are inferior, and whilst some rapists are undoubtedly committing their crimes as a hate crime, others are quite simply not caring about their victim's wishes, and that's really not the same thing at all.
