Guest makapaka
I bought a fantastic book from oxfam today called sheffield emerging city. It's an a4 size full colour book published by the city engineers / planning in 1969 and includes the plans for the crucible, hallamshire hospital and the mosborough housing development amongst others. Also lots of statistics on the city at the time. Some superb photos. I just wondered if anyone else had seen it and/or knew about the reasons for it being published as it doesn't appear to be a book that was for sale - more a detailed promotional book. Steptoad
I picked up a copy at a jumble sale a couple of years a go, I always thought it was a promotional book to encourage business investment in Sheffield. It looks like we had a future to look forward to back then, where did it all go wrong?
